When crisis/wars like this happen, culturalist & fundamentalist explanations always take over. They superficially seem right. But were used in WW1, WW2, during the Cold War, and they were always proven wrong b/c what people are is not fixed and eternal.

Yeah, during WWII AJP Taylor wrote a book arguing Germans are inherently warlike (Course of German History, 1945). A few years later the savage Huns were valued Nato allies.

But he also wrote The Origins of WW2 where he argued that Hitler's irredentism was logically based on the application of the principles of SD proclaimed by Versailles and then denied to Germany.
