Unfortunately that's probably the only way Putin saves face and ends this pointless war, by securing a decade or more with Ukraine unable to join NATO.

I'm not so sure the Russians would have faith in an agreement being followed. They just ignore rules they don't like all the time, they are going to assume everyone else behaves the same way

Zelensky was pretty clearly saying "we won't be joining NATO" as a criticism of NATO for not living up to its open door policy, not as a concession to Putin.

He has said he will not do an agreement that that doesn't have security guarantees. It doesn't matter what you call them.

This is rough but anyone who isn't fighting this war should have no opinion on Zelensky's resolve, whatever his decision. It sucks if Putin gets anything out of this, but people's lives need to be saved here.

Suspected as long as he keeps EU-UKR trade deal in effect, door to EU membership open and MINImizes territorial loss, that's on the table. The denazification hype & geography & military sitch helps justify Putin grabbing for a ton of plum beachfront property tho, probs too much
