Are families taking kids to theaters right now in big enough numbers to justify big theatrical releases? Maybe they’re protecting the brand from “bombing” while we’re still in uncertain pandemic times

Possibly family movies that wouldn’t have fared well in a pandemic at theatres where there is reluctance to expose younger unvaccinated (especially during luca and soul timeframes) kids? Families generally more cautious?

They are betting they are going to make more money from the streaming service than the box office. Netflix has done fine without blockbusters at the theater. Plus, theaters aren’t very busy even now.
