        I thought @davidklion's piece was terrific and definitely read it first, but I can't say that in these times the idea to profile a so-called Russian oligarch who was just placed under sanctions was unique to Jewish Currents

        Of course not, and FWIW there were details in the NYT piece I appreciated and hadn't caught myself. I think it's more this perception among journalists at other outlets that NYT's attitude is that a subject hasn't been properly covered until it's been covered by NYT.
