The British war aims were to create a Native Nations barrier between Canada and the U.S., also to break up the still-young federal U.S. gov't before it grew further west (post-Louisiana Purchase). That failed to happen, hence the tie. The only losers were the Natives. :(

All true, but as the party that declared war first, whether the Anericans achieved their war aims is arguably a more important metric? British war aims *after the Americans started the war* are less relevant. The British were satisfied with status quo ante bellum and got it.

New Orleans was a pretty big victory though. A lot of those British troops had fought in Europe and had never seen a defeat like this. We blunted both a northern and southern invasion in the last year of the war. We didn’t win but we were no longer slouches and our Navy did fine.
