For all I know, YouTube does insist that health journalists identify false claims about vaccines when they quote disinfo merchants. If they don’t, they should. Twitter has banned Covid disinfo, although enforcement is uneven.

I think this overestimates media literacy. Feel like tons of reasonably intelligent people without any media literacy see something claiming to be news with good production value and assume everything they hear is true

It’s still important journalists to correct misinformation. Pre-bunking is one of the most powerful strategies. If you warn people they’re going to be lied to, by IDing false claims as false, those claims are less likely to stick when encountered in the wild.

If you call yourself a journalist, you shouldn’t let liars piggyback on your good name by airing their lies uncorrected. It’s so easy to slap on a disclaimer. The only reason not to is if you’re courting viewers who like those lies.
