For years, disinfo merchants exploited a loophole whereby straight news declined to call lies “lies.” But now best practices for straight news include calling out lies whenever they are repeated. Professional standards have evolved.https://twitter.com/robbysoave/status/1499520827246759936 …

I don’t really see a problem with that. So: sure?
Especially since there’s zero evidence, AFAIK, that the Ghost of Kyiv is real.
Reporting *should* frame that as an urban legend / very successful propaganda symbol of Ukraine’s resistance, rather than just repeating the claimsThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

I'm trying to find a consistent standard on repeating lies and false information.

The standard is things that are known to be false. All reputable news orgs that I know have gone out of their way to stress that th Ghost of Kyiv is implausible on its face, though not known to be false—which goes above and beyond the standard.

The saga of Snake Island is real, it just didn’t end with the deaths of the border guards. Just the destruction of all the infrastructure on the island by the Russian warship they told to fuck off, leaving the government to assume they were dead, and later correct the record.
