Are there any good essays on the Apple TV adaptation of Foundation. Seems like an under discussed show in general.

To be fair, Asimov himself isn’t very stringent with the concept of psychohistory and more or less abandons it completely once the telepathy/mind control stuff starts.

Right. The second book swings right into high action/adventure mode, abandoning the premises of the first with some handwaving about the exceptions prove the rule.

I do think it picked up themes that were present in the books (like science and religion) but tried to do new and creative things with them. A bit reminiscent of BSG.
