The movies portrayal of Americans is interesting & not without complexity. MacArthur is shown as a buffoon (fair enough!) but the point of the movie is Americans come to respect Chinese military valor, with an emphasis on shared military respect.

Okay, I’m intrigued; but 300 is not a flattering comparison. I get that you’re comparing two last ditch defenses in cinema history, but the Alamo is almost less problematic by comparison. 300 piles homophobia on top of racism while misrepresenting Spartan society entirely.
