*sigh* I taught Maus to 8th graders paired with Diary of Anne Frank. Male students especially connected with Maus in a way they couldn't with the story of a teenage girl. Maus was key to them understanding and processing the horror and trauma of the Holocaust.

Spiegelman is obviously sensitive to the violation of the taboo on nudity (his own mother) - it helps convey some of the horror!

I remember watching Schindler's List in like 8th grade for extra credit, and not a single parent objected on grounds of "nudity" or anything else.
