This particular acknowledgment is bad, because it implies the people stewarded the land then what? Just gave it up? A proper land acknowledgment identifies the injustice, and invites action.

(Aus) Aboriginal concepts of identity mean that radix land title cannot be ceded. A treaty would give the state licence to exist on top of that in probably more-or-less its current form. Acknowledgement-of-country arises out of that context.
