Not a bad ranking but I'd say: 1. A Serious Man. 2. Miller's Crossing 3. Fargo. Although Big Lebowski, Llewyn Davis, Barton Fink, all have plausible claims on top 3https://twitter.com/TheBigPic/status/1484666190601474049 …

Coen's adaption of Macbeth, since we're talking Coens, is terrific, very good at keeping the roots in theatre while also finding cinematic correlatives for the language & action.
Are the films popular in Canada?
O Brother belongs higher on this list.
If they'd never filmed anything other than "Miller's Crossing," they'd still be immortal.
Why'm I the only person who appreciates the genius of THE MAN WHO WASN'T THERE?

The ranking exercise isn't so much about the films as it is about the person dong the ranking, right?
Having just rewatched O BROTHER tonight, I think it's one of their best. It's so pure and weird and sweet, with magnificent silent-movie-scale performances from every actor.
(also, the hell is TRUE GRIT doing so far down there; it's a damn masterpiece)
I think they also cycle between funny, serious, and very dark — all with an originality that arrests attention. Also, most of they films improve with re-watching, an amazing accomplishment.
Just so. Every time I have rewatched a Coen film, my estimation of it increases. Every time.
