Not a bad ranking but I'd say: 1. A Serious Man. 2. Miller's Crossing 3. Fargo. Although Big Lebowski, Llewyn Davis, Barton Fink, all have plausible claims on top 3https://twitter.com/TheBigPic/status/1484666190601474049 …

The more I think about it, the more difficult it is to rank the Coen Bros. movies. With the exception of The Ladykillers, the movies are all good, about a dozen are great, and each has their special merit. It's an astonishing body of work.https://twitter.com/TheBigPic/status/1484666190601474049 …

Coen's adaption of Macbeth, since we're talking Coens, is terrific, very good at keeping the roots in theatre while also finding cinematic correlatives for the language & action.

Inside Llewyn Davis is easily their most underrated. Some people don’t even know it exists. Star-making performance by Oscar Isaac.

It’s ranked pretty high here (with some bangers ahead of it), and I agree it should rank high. I think Man Who Wasn’t There is their most underrated, as reflected here.

This list is illegitimate unless Raising Arizona is in the top 3.

Man Who Wasn’t There is way too low (why is this one so underrated, generally?) and MacBeth probably shouldn’t be in the running since it’s not a Coen *Brothers* movie.

Yeah, that one’s in my top 3. The acting, shadows, cadence, and biting humor are so damn good. “What kind of man are you?” still rolls around in my head sometimes

I'd put A Serious Man at the top as well. A massively underrated film in my opinion.

For me, 1. Fargo, 2. Llewelyn, 3. Arizona— but basically I could change my mind about the order of the top 15 from minute to minute. They are all pretty great and way superior to the body of work anyone else has put together over the past three decades.

I love that Llewyn Davis is ranked so highly on so many lists now. I think it will eventually be consensus top three (or at least top tier, whatever your ranking)
