Right, that’s my point. GOP appointments in the relatively recent past included Stevens and Souter. It’s not just conservatism, it’s the refinement of the GOP as its reactionary vehicle. Eisenhower isn’t going to appoint Brennan. Trump both embodies this, but also augments it.
