Yeah, institutional history and history of political formations interact linked—but they are occurring on different diachronic trajectories. So the US constituional anti-majoritarianism predates by 150 years the Post New Deal Right and then its subsuming into the GOP.

Well, I think in this case constitutional anti-majoritarianism is not just the constitutional system but the specifically partisan anti-democratic slant of current court, created by GOP.

It's weird to me to center the proud boys in this debate when there's already a large, organized, heavily armed and politically powerful group that spent a summer attacking BLM protesters and the journalists covering them.
