im not sure why the media loves the word "misinformation" so much, propaganda is so much more fun to say, maybe because "misinformation" sounds more neutral
True, most people aren't aware of the origins of the word in the wars of religion. But I think that's why word retains its strong emotive power.

Respectfully, propaganda makes me think of Goebbels and the Nazis myself. I think it’s the totally correct term to use. Whatever you call it, it’s a tool in the info wars that is being used against us in a massive way with hopes to subvert democracy and turn us autocratic.

It was new to me, FWISW, and I was raised as a Catholic. I think the term is more like a dead metaphor such as leviathan where the original meaning is basically lost, and a new understanding is now in place.
