IMO, trauma went from unknown & undertreated to trendy and over self-diagnosed. This sounds like gatekeeping but the trauma I'm familiar with gives you frequent panic attacks, dissociates body parts, increases physical illness etc. It doesn't just give you unhappiness and ennui

An important part of every life, and some trauma therapy, is the personal narrative. But we live in a culture of narratives, and so too often default around the 'right kind' of trauma, and supposedly universal narratives. This can do immeasurable harm.
