1. For anyone who has ever admired Greenwald's reporting and analysis, this turn towards becoming a Tucker Carlson apologist is sad. Greenwald's position is that the guy who called Iraqis “semiliterate primitive monkeys” has never framed any issue in "racist terms."https://twitter.com/themattdimitri/status/1464871187847294978 …

Will listen later, but my theory is that GG always needed an editor above him to produce good work, and once he was provided with the opportunity to be his own boss (The Intercept, then Substack), the guardrails went off. People don't tend to appreciate how editors are essential.

It's as easy as looking out for the loudest, most aggressive voices on the left who do more infighting than anything else and to whom Republican excesses seem almost invisible.

Glenn has always been extremely self-promoting. He (probably correctly) realized that his brand as a rigorous (nominally) liberal reporter wasn't viable after his departure from the intercept and that, instead a better brand was (nominal) liberal who will "call his side out." /1

The problem is, the only sustainable way to do that js to be "that guy" on Fox. He always was actually a civil libertarian cosplaying as a "progressive." So he shares a sincere disdain for progressivism and a cynical love of his own "brand" with Carlson. Same as Bill Maher /2

"figure out what happened to Greenwald" Ugh

Yes. When a person thinks for themselves there must be an investigation as to what went wrong.

1. Strange choice since Glenn Greenwald himself is available. 2. Did you ask Eoin Higgins if he will post the 193 Greenwald tweets, including his designation of whether the tweets were positive or negative toward Fox News, so that others may independently review and analyze?

Glenn history of defending White Supremacists goes back to his earliest days defending Matt Hale.
