The Christian Right with its persecution fantasies has been appropriating other people's suffering for a long, long time. There's a lot of examples, but I think my favorite is how in their discourse discussion of Dred Scott is code for the court legalizing abortion in Roe v Wade.

"Fighting the last war" presumes that the current wave of xenophobia, Islamophobia, & nationalism are unconnected with the policies unleashed during "global war of terror" by GOP (and its centrist and liberal allies). I think people responsible need to take responsibility
