Are we goading them into war? Or are we shoring them up, trying to stave off an aggressive totalitarian neighbor, its subversive activities, & the resulting attitude of Findlandization towards it? Disclosure: I remember the analogous situations in Europe during the Cold War.

Err, PRC is actually the largest trading partner to all of its neighbors. The cold war analogy simply doesn't make sense.
