I don't understand. This is a total straw man of what progressives would like taught in history courses? Is there a citation of anyone saying, "only teach the bad stuff"? People are saying, "you can't only teach the good stuff."

I liked that introductory essay, but selling the project based on the idea that slavery represents "the true founding of America" was bad messaging in addition to being a pretty questionable historical narrative, IMO.

Yes, but that attempt to wrestle honestly with our past would be hard. It's much safer to complain about the unreasonableness of those impractical people who insist on better. Seems like I remember someone writing about these people. Perhaps from a jail, maybe in Birmingham.
