This is good. Agree about Kirby and also how fandom has a warped relationship with corporate culture (although I like Eternals movie more than most critics) https://twitter.com/BadPostsLLC/status/1458432338442948608 …

What If… made lovely work of Kirby Spots in some of its episodes.

Thor 3 was easily the closest to the Kirby aesthetic, and not coincidentally it looks fantastic

Continuity and canon are trivia you can use to mark in- and out- group status; there's nothing nerds love more than that

The wonderful Darkseid episodes in Superman: TAS also captured Kirby's sensibility.

Would Kirby dots be harder to properly render than hair?

Different studio but Into the Spider-Verse approached that in as you say an animated way

However it is depicted, either in animation or live action, it will most likely be rendered in CG. Think robots, vehicles of oddly large sizes, buildings, etc. I think it would all look great if the designer and animator just let the viewer see most/ all sides of the object.

Thus isn't Kirby based but actually loosely based on Sienkiewicz ... his New Mutants era work The Tv show Legion uses elements from or the could be from comics and it looks cool, to me. It is freaky seeing it. And it works. Too bad filmmakers can't see how Kirby's art works.

The big giant hand of the Celestial bursting out and reaching towards the audience was a nice touch in the movie, though.
