Sam and I are recording an episode about Frank Meyer on Monday, and in doing some prep reading this afternoon I learned that Meyer flirted with Catholicism as early as his days as a student at Oxford—under the influence Martin D'Arcy, SJ (Meyer would convert on his deathbed)

The portrait of Meyer in Wills’s Confessions of a Conservative pushed us over the edge! Am reading the bio ISI published awhile back this weekend

ISI book as I recall is a bit of a whitewash, as those books tend to be.

Yeah, I’m treating it similar to their Bozell bio—useful to get the basics of his life, etc

That's the best use for such a book. ISI for data, Wills for the real truth. One thing that the ISI book doesn't get (nor do any of the other existing NR books) is Meyer as an important book review editor with literary taste.
