Amazing how old contrarian language is. Came across a 1935 Wyndham Lewis article complaining about the "repressive 'left-wing' orthodoxy" in British culture (by which Lewis mean people critical of his view that Hitler was peace-loving gent that England should ally itself with)

Marshall McLuhan had a publication named COUNTERBLAST in tribute to Lewis's BLAST. Lewis, Ezra Pound, and T.S. Eliot, each with a unique brand of conservative thought/anti-semitism, loom large in McLuhan's work, along with the usual suspects of Joyce and Shakespeare.
