Liberal Republicans were an actual political faction at the time! just not "liberal" in the modern sense and wholly distinct from the paradox that modern use of the term might imply

Not the Dunning school which condemned Reconstruction. This lazy paragraph just states that the Liberal Repubs and Democrats wanted to end it, which is true.

It really gets down to how you teach history to people who don't really care anyways. I agree it's a bit lazy but this just isn't a big deal to me.
