I thought Tarantino got shit bc of how violent his movies are, treatment of women etc. Anderson bc he’s seen as twee and ‘hipster’ (whatever that still means in 2021)?

Was there a wave of films ripping off Wes Anderson? I don’t remember that.

It’s hard to be ambivalent I suppose. I adore some Wes films; ADORE. Moonrise Kingdom especially. I have seen the newest. Remarkable cast. As a film though, it is disjointed. It is vignettes and people seem short-tempered with precious things these days. Go figure

He has a very specific style, which tends to evoke strong opinions. It can get tired after a while. For me, it depends. For example, I loved Moonrise Kingdom, but didn’t like Grand Budapest Hotel because it felt too similar (coming of age), and less genuine.

My problem too. I haven’t seen his last few, even if I’ve never really disliked any. I think that it’s also hard to make trailers for his movies, because they all just end up focusing on those visuals and one-off jokes that feel the same after a while.
