Dune is only "unfilmable" because it makes no commercial sense to make a limited series with "I, Claudius"-style '70s BBC limited series pacing and acting but with also an unlimited budget because it takes place on a desert planet with sandworms

It’s an ugly piece of shit but could be done well indeed a-la GoT. However I should note that GoT has major moments in first half - ironically when the writing was still good - where even that budget was woefully insufficient, turning what should’ve been huge battles into sad

looking little skirmishes. And that’s GoT, biggest event on TV ever. But, almost there. Dune would have to be something like that.
