There's a fair bit of science fiction imagining future incarnations of Catholicism, Mormonism, Islam, and Judaism (not to mention imagined religions). But, unless I'm missing something, not much Protestant futurism. I wonder why that is.

To be specific, it's a function of a particular Protestant systematic theology called dispensationalism. It's an early 19th c invention but not widely popularized until the 1910s/20s and becomes the dominant (and pessimistic) view among American evangelicals by the end of WW2.

Non-dispensationalist Protestants are much more likely to have a positive view of the future, but they're on their back foot by the time we get to the golden age of sci fi.
