This is not really true. (Derek Nimmo?) But the "comedy vicar" -- who shows up when the protagonists are unprepared -- is a trope in British sitcoms and not really a trope in American sitcoms at all. The TV equivalent of the Hayes Code stomped on any comic portrayal of ministers.
-
The exception: sitcoms in the US made for a Black audience are much more willing to use religious ministers as comic characters than ones aimed at a White audience.

The Vicar of Dibley was certainly randy, but perhaps wouldn't fit everyone's definition of "hot." Very funny show, btw.
