To be clear, this a Reuters editor responding to a situation in which Andy Ngo, whatever you think of him, undeniably scooped multiple major outlets that treated an alleged sex crime with multiple victims, including a girl, as a hoax. That's the level of professionalism we're athttps://twitter.com/mgerrydoyle/status/1446268467481513985 …

This is such an insane waste of time. I wrote a paywalled article making certain points about what a bad sign is that Andy Ngo, of all people, could outperform major outlets on this piece. I didn't say anything about any of the stuff you're talking about.

What do you get out of jumping in to argue about a piece you haven't read? Isn't this just really pointless Twitter fighting over almost nothing?

"I don't think that's the most significant thing about Ngo" is a smug dodge.. you're right, Jesse, this whole thing is a waste of time. It's all straw men and red herring...

Citing Ngo isn’t approvingly voting in a referendum on him, come on, you have to know you’re dodging any substantive engagement here.

It doesn't matter to you that so many journalists failed and have made no amends to the victims they slandered and the protestors they derided because they were working from a preconceived narrative that failed entirely to describe accurately or analyse usefully the events?

You’re attacking the person not the argument Your least favorite right wing grifter did better journalism in this circumstance than more than a few reputable outlets. Instead of focusing on the low hanging fruit of Ngo why not look at the failure of corporate newsrooms

Jeet, Andy Ngo’s personality is not the most significant thing in this story

So if you totally ignore the failures multiple of the mainstream reporters and dismiss the importance of why they got it so wrong and pretend accuracy truth and investigative journalism should bend to suit other interests, then yes you'd have a point

Yes, he has different motives which is why i would think the left would care about him becoming a more reliable source on this story than major outlets by sharing facts they could and should have found. Talk about missing the forest for the trees
