Not very many people are thinking through the consequences of the Biden Project failing (one honorable exception is Chait). Beyond the obvious possibility of Trump returning, it'll also shatter the Democratic coalition.

It’s a shrewd assessment, yet is a bit too 30,000 miles above the fray. Despite, well, everything, vast majority of Dems would drive the entire tecinciliation package and much more—they *are* practicing the politics of hope. A few aren’t, enough to perhaps wreck the project.

agree with Rich- The Biden as FDR comparison was about his ambitions, not his ability to fulfill them. And without the surprise twofer in Georgia back on Jan. 5, we would be reading about attempts to win over Murkowski and Romney instead of getting pissed at Dems from WVA and AZ.
