I like "mythical astronomy" cc:
@thedragonLML although his use is in reference to the fantasy of ASOIAF and related works. While the story is fantasy, a lot of the worldbuilding in the books can be read as foggy remembrances of explicate phenomena. -
right; I made up that phrase to describe people's tendency to use the movements of the heavens and the cycles of nature as the backbone of their mythologies, Frequently what they're "observing" are catastrophes, i.e. the universal flood myths which describe the melting ice sheets
