This @DouthatNYT column makes a good & surprising point (about liberal policy triumphs) until it comes to climate near the end & just hand waves it -- but that point unravels the larger argument.https://www.nytimes.com/2021/10/02/opinion/liberal-politics.html …

More broadly than just
@DouthatNYT, it's very hard for journalists to give proper weight to climate as it really is -- the biggest crisis humanity has ever faced, one which we are doing poorly addressing & one which will cause unimaginable suffering. It's too big a story.Show this threadThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

The thing is, though, the revealed preference of leftists and many liberals is they actually don't care all that much about climate. Most of the money in this supposedly globe-saving bill goes to health, education - worthy stuff, but not emissions-cutting.
-
Climate is mostly a rhetorical cudgel to use against Republicans - who richly deserve it - but if we actually gave it the importance it deserves we'd be gutting social programs to build nuclear plants in India and Nigeria.

Exactly. Things are on track except for the existential threat to humanity.

I'd suggest moderating on some issues, be they guns, immigration, abortion or whatever, to gain the majorities needed to deal with the issue you think will literally end life onearth.
