There's some truth to this. In general Sinema is very much a creature of the 1990s and early 2000s -- with her third party roots (Greens), deficit mania, "bipartisanship" etc.https://twitter.com/CoreyRobin/status/1443068089986396160 …

The Dems are a loose ramshackle party but a party nonetheless. But Sinema? I don't think she thinks like a party person.

Yeah, going from Green to "actively helping the GOP" is best case "I hate the dems and have no other principles' and worst case "I simply have no principles except power"

This is why I think trying to coerce them doesn't make sense. Manchin might take it personally because he's ultimately going to help pass the reconciliation bill and Sinema, if she truly hates the ideas in the reconciliation bill, will sink it regardless.

She's not up until 2024. It's a good bet on her part that other things will come up between now and then where she can make nice with the party.

My theory is she's trying to be the next John McCain but she's not even competent enough to pretend to be an actual maverick like he did.

Also the Mbembe and Agamben dissertation -- flamboyant performatism, inscrutable pyrotechnics, fetishization of "power."
