I first read Foundation in the 1980s, and it seemed *very* much a product of its time. Fact is, just about every novel is a product of its time; I'm not sure I've ever read one I could really consider to be timeless. Do they exist?

Only if you mean story settings reflect and project what we think we know now which is always more than what we used to know. Old stuff like Frankenstein might be technologically crude but still packs a profound punch.
