I think there’s a misunderstanding. Rights and credit have always been issues for artists/writers. That’s why Steve Ditko left Marvel. But legally, they were under a work for hire contract. 1/

2/ The contracts were usually pretty unfair ($130 for Superman and all) which is what the artists/writers usually base their cases on. Courts usually side with the company. Are you saying there wasn’t such an agreement with Spider-Man?

3/ I ask because Jack Kirby’s estate tried the same thing ~7 years ago and they lost, because Kirby was work-for-hire. I would assume Ditko’s contract was the same.
