Again, the issue at hand is a specific letter that Franzen declined to sign, not some anti-woke hyperbole that exists somewhere in the world. Satirizing the latter while explaining the former makes no sense, unless one believes that the letter *is* an example of such hyperbole.

It's not, though, because the drafters and the list of signatories linked that one letter directly to the broader anti-woke movement. To pretend it's some discrete observation rather than a particular salvo in a much broader effort is disingenuous.
