Polarization isn't the only factor at play, there is also a distinct lack of social trust and trust in institutions but I assume partisanship plays into both of those too.

It does and doesn't - IDK if you saw the map of vaccination rates around Chicago a few months ago but quite clearly, it is not a tale of equilibrium being found by individual reckoning.

It’s not just partisanship it is social media, years of poor education, right wing media echo chamber, a society who denigrates actual expertise etc.
