Once HJ is pronouncing America the "best regime" & attacking Allan Bloom for his homosexuality, he's a full-on crank in my book. & from my experience of knowing some of those folks in the 90s, they were always *very* right wing & disgusted by (not just critical of) lib modernity.

I think the religious right embraced Jaffa more than he they. Unless you have a specific argument to make. I would be curious to understand how lauding America's first Amendment ie freedom of religion, as central to America's status, is an embrace of the religious right.
