I have been hearing from people who are more familiar with the inner world of the Claremont Institute than I am. It's been interesting. I enjoyed reading the piece, but I didn't find it very useful. Too internalist to that little world & too admiring of Jaffa (and Neumann lol). Jaffa became a crank decades before his death and set the stage for a lot of what we're seeing now in a way that the author doesn't see.

I'm still trying to process but broadly agree -- Jaffa's crankiness (coupled with real brilliance) was evident in 1960s/1970s. Not a far leap from his embrace of religous right to Claremont's Trumpism.
