His argument was that a parent limiting the "bodily autonomy" of a child is inherently oppressive. Surely you can see how people might construe that wrt sex. You might argue that's an unfair leap, but it's not like this came out of left field during a disagreement about taxes

That's been my whole issue all along. Noah often writes absurd things. If you take what he says to its logical conclusion, you'll end up with some monstrous conclusions. But I'm not sure that's out of malice or foolishness.

He is comms director at a place dedicated to advocating that "absurd" position. Do you think he did that just to spite the Bruenigs, or should be maybe entertain the possibility that he actually believes the stuff he says he believes?

I don't see Berlatsky as someone with genuine beliefs. Working as a comm director for this place is compatible with that.

Despite the fact that he has said he agrees with the positions of the organization, you think he was lying, and it's likelier that he started working for them out of purely mercenary motivations? Just to get that sweet part-time, non-profit comms paycheck?

Okay, let's stipulate he believes in organizations agenda (although I remain skeptical he believes anything). His beliefs are still distinct from being pedophile (which is a matter not of ideas by of psychology & action). That's our disagreement here.

So you've spent all day getting on your high horse and arguing with people over the distinction between "pedophilia advocate" and "pedophile?" Remember, at any point, you are free to just say: "maybe I misjudged this debate and shouldn't have weighed in the way I did"

I feel like a few minutes reflection should make clear why we maintain the distinction between being "x advocate" and "x practioner."

I don't think either are any less morally reprehensible positions to hold.

The question isn't which is morally worse (they're both bad) but which is a more accurate characterization. When you're accusing someone, it's important to be accurate.
