As far as I know, the "political position" in question here was "children can consent to sex." Maybe I'm just overly suspicious, but my first thought after seeing someone argue that is "maybe that person is a pedophile"

His argument was that a parent limiting the "bodily autonomy" of a child is inherently oppressive. Surely you can see how people might construe that wrt sex. You might argue that's an unfair leap, but it's not like this came out of left field during a disagreement about taxes

That's been my whole issue all along. Noah often writes absurd things. If you take what he says to its logical conclusion, you'll end up with some monstrous conclusions. But I'm not sure that's out of malice or foolishness.

He is comms director at a place dedicated to advocating that "absurd" position. Do you think he did that just to spite the Bruenigs, or should be maybe entertain the possibility that he actually believes the stuff he says he believes?

I don't see Berlatsky as someone with genuine beliefs. Working as a comm director for this place is compatible with that.

It's not an excuse for working for the organization. It's a characterization of how I think Berlatsky relates to ideas. But, really, his motive/ideas are irrelevant. Real distinction is between what he's genuinely at fault for (working for bad organization) & accusation
