Did any Democrat running for presidential nomination in 2020 argue they'd keep troops in Afghanistan indefinitely? Or did they all (as I seem to recall) argue for ending mission quickly?

I don't think indefinitely is the right word, but only Bernie and Warren were pushing for immediate withdrawal. Rest had more nuanced positions IIRC (source: staffer that watched too many debates)

curious what your recollection is. are you defining immediate in this case as like day one or general policy? I’ve known in general forever that Biden wanted out. But honestly in the 100 years since 2019 I can’t really remember what they were saying in the debates.

my recollection is most candidates wanted a withdrawal but not the kind of immediate withdrawal Biden ultimately carried out (something that the more left wing candidates were advocating for)

here's an example, Pete says "1st year in office" https://www.vox.com/2019/7/30/20748070/democratic-debate-pete-buttigieg-afghanistan-troops … Warren made the case for immediate withdrawal, no strings attachedhttps://www.thedailybeast.com/elizabeth-warren-says-at-democratic-debate-she-wants-troops-home-from-afghanistan-before-taliban-peace-deal …

Not a huge difference between "first year in office" and Biden doing it 7 months into presidency. I think only minor candidates talked about staying longer

I agree! Also IIRC Tim Ryan might have been an outlier

Ryan and I think Delaney, who barely count.
