Going to give this a read. I don't think Dune has gotten quite the level of academic analysis that it deserves given its complexity & cultural impact.

Thanks! Yes, researching the book I've found that fascist ideas were surprisingly common in early SF fandom - there was an abortive "fannationalist" breeding program to produce a master race & the first big US Neo-Nazi party was founded by a SF fan who recruited in the community.
