One thing critiques of Chapo so often ignore is how much they've used their platform to bring people into political organizing. They've brought new members into DSA, got tons of people to knock doors for Bernie, and go deep on local candidates/organizers when no one else doeshttps://twitter.com/NewYorker/status/1419697704951762947 …

For years, podcasts like “Chapo Trap House” have paired anti-capitalism with the rhetorical style of social media. Shows like “Know Your Enemy” offer something different, @andrewmarantz writes—something in the online world, but not of it. http://nyer.cm/QrKNXsl

I think that's true but there's a tension between the shows encouragement of organizing (which was stronger pre-2021 in any case) and style of irony/detachment/doom-mongering, which all work against solidarity.

Yes, Menek@r’s Twitter melt down after Bernie dropped out of the primaries wasn’t uniting or in any way helpful.

it didn't matter at all one way or the other. Vast majority of Chapo listeners agreed with him. We're probably more irony/despair-pilled than they are. They're reflective. Personally I'm good but if you're not filled with despair with fact that Biden is keeping the filibuster,

I mean really it’s just about your own personal feelings and goals at that point. I feel like most of their doom-mongering was centered around people going, “so you’re gonna vote Biden now huh”, and they really didn’t think voting for him mattered at that point.
