Yeah, I'm with you here. Except, I'm pretty sure we can and should do both.

It should be a priority to build space colonies, come on Jeet! Like, it has to be done eventually.

This should be common sense to everyone with an elementary school education in science.

it's incredibly funny to me that spacecolonists thing we'll be able to terraform the moon or mars, which would be orders of magnitude harder than just... terraforming the earth back to habitable levels!

i don't mind hedging bets by planting seeds in space somewhere or whatever but the mindless assumption of more extraction seems to be a big problem!

Not just humans, but all the life around us that allows us to live. What is Jeff going to eat in space?

His "heavily industry in space" thing is completely infeasible. You could potentially do it on Mars, but doing it on space-stations will be impossible because there's no way to get rid of excess heat, and also no gravity to use to move things around, pour things, etc.
-
It's also infeasible on Mars - the soil contains irradiated perchlorates which effectively melt biological organisms in a couple minutes. The research is extensive and utterly unmentioned by the wide-eyed space fantasists, for obvious reasons.
