4. Margins matter in very close elections, as USA elections are these days. Both last 2 presidencies decided by less than 80,000 votes in 3 states. Also walk-arounds seem flimsy since courts whittling away existing voting rights laws.
5. Bottom line is that there is a disconnect between Dem rhetoric (existential threat!) and actions (de-prioritizing voting rights laws). Ballot access may only matter on the margins and may be overcome with voter outreach but outlawing gerrymandering is the whole ballgame. If Democrats don’t fix this their majority is likely gone in the House regardless of how they actually perform in 2022
