The left is not quite as irritating as the right on what counts as CRT. But no, this is regular civil rights thinking and is an illustration of the fact that civil rights thinking is perfectly fine for analyzing these things, no CRT needed.https://twitter.com/tripgabriel/status/1414333316275257348 …

In which Martin Luther King explains critical race theory to an NBC reporter who asked why descendants of slaves hadn't risen economically like descendants of white immigrants. This being 1967, MLK doesn't say 'CRT,' but makes the point https://youtu.be/KbM2d6jy4Mc  via @YouTube

It amazing that we just had *that’s not CRT* discourse just a week ago, and now progressives are the ones pretending that literally everything on race counts as CRT. 🙄

@jholbo1 note this again does not appear to be a *joke*. This is what happens when high profile people like @HeerJeet make these kind of jokes. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The progressive discourse on CRT has two prongs. The 'that's not CRT prong', which insists it's fairly narrow and academic. And the reductio ad absurdum prong that says: alright, if everything is CRT then a lot of stuff you actually think is fine is CRT. Where's the problem?

So you don’t think there is an actually confused about CRT progressive wing? Because this doesn’t at all seem like a jokey reductio statement.

IF 'CRT' means what the anti-CRT folks mean by 'CRT', then MLK is CRT. It is fair to point that out, even though it's confusing. But the confusion is all due to the anti-CRT'ers insisting on playing 3-D three-card monte with CRT and MLK.

I am sure Jeet would be happy to adopt a non-shifting sense of 'CRT', either narrow or wide or somewhere between. But good luck getting the anti-CRT'ers to play along with that. So, if you want to argue against them, you have to be prepared for misuse of 'CRT'.

Seems like a self defeating position. But in that case there can be no argument that Okun and DiAngelo are firmly CRT. Which seems like an extreme own goal to me because now all the negative things really are CRT right?

And again I see know evidence that this author is in on the joke. So you’re playing on the side of active disinformation. Especially since the anti crt laws don’t ban MLk

Let me suggest that your ability to read irony and paradox might need some fine tuning.

He’s a political reporter doing straight political reporting. If it’s irony, and I don’t believe it is meant to be at all, it’s a terrible job of it, it plays into misinformation, and it is setting up the frame in a way that is going to be hugely disadvantageous

Because it means the ability to distance from Okun et al (who is teaching teachers on ‘white supremacy’) is going to be harder. It’s the ‘Abolish the police’ mistake all over again
