Holy hell this is a fantastic idea for a miniseries. Someone get on it. (Needless to say, the peripheries of the old empire bit is what I find most interesting.)https://twitter.com/HeerJeet/status/1412792191026614282 …

Jacob Remes added,
The press baron from hinterland is an old story: Lord Beaverbrook among others. A real pattern.
But of course Beaverbrook went to the seat of what was then the most important empire; your three went to the seat of the faded empire that no longer controlled the world.
Interesting studies in how the British Empire continues to hold sway over the imaginations of its colonials, even after the passing of its geopolitical predominance.
The scholarly essay that could be written on this would be something like, "The Strange Afterlife of the British Empire" -- could include the Churchill cult, James Bond, Anglosphere, and press barons.
