Normally, the richer people are the less likely they are to believe in god. But Gen Z and Millenials are way poorer than previous generations.

I would guess it's about expectations vs reality. Many poor people know, and have known, that they have few prospects in this world, so they turn to God, but millennials and gen z have been given high expectations that haven't materialized
